When I first saw the trailer I knew it was gonna be great. It was so dense! Every single image has so much going on. Space Cop was the key to all this. He was a funnier character than they've done before. It was stylistically designed to be that way. They may have gone too far in a few places. Borderline experimental. special effect is a tool, a means of telling a story. People have a tendency to confuse them as an end to themselves. A special effect without a story is a pretty boring thing. I will say that they did diminish the effects of it. It's like poetry, it rhymes. It was great seeing him take out his litter laser sword and go to town. Hopefully the sequel doesn't take twelve years to make.

Movie Reviews

Period pieces don't often serve as the backdrops for horror, which is actually a real shame. Consider The Witch, a story about a banished Puritan family trying to sustain itself on the edge of an ominous forest inhabited by a gruesome witch. The faithful representation of one of the most creepy time periods in American history makes all the difference here. The family's dealings with the supernatural terror in the woods push their spiritual and physical endurance to the breaking point. Robert Eggers pulls no punches and makes no apologies in this film. The Witch's scenes are steeped in primal dread, and each actor makes the audience feel the seams come apart as paranoia and mistrust begin to take their toll. While Game of Thrones alumni Ralph Ineson and Kate Dickie offer brilliantly raw performances as the family's mother and father, it's the film's younger actors—Harvey Scrimshaw and Anya Taylor-Joy—who really shine. Scrimshaw captures the nuanced turmoil of being an adolescent male in a strictly religious family. As the oldest daughter who is blamed for the witch's malevolent deeds against the family, Anya Taylor-Joy shows a surprising amount of risk and range in her performance. The film swings for the fences on all fronts. The performances are explosive, the tension is gut-wrenching, and the settings are nightmarish. Movie Review

There are two actors brought back from the original television cast: Ian Lavender, promoted from Private Pike to Brigadier Pritchard; and Frank Williams, repeating his role as Rev Timothy Farthing.

The sign above the Pawnbrokers shop reads 'Croft and Perry Pawnbrokers' as a tribute/in joke as David Croft and Jimmy Perry wrote the TV series the film is based on.

3 of the titular characters all played a part in the Harry Potter saga. Michael Gambonplayed Dumbledore, Toby Jones voiced the house elf Dobby and Bill Nighy played Scrimgeour. However none of them share any scenes together.

Movie Reviews

Well, to begin, I cannot remember the last time I could not get up at the end of a movie. I literally could not rise up from my seat. My body felt as though it were being weighed down by something considerably larger and heavier than myself... History had it's way with me( I am an African American woman). Thank you Mr. McQueen, Mr. Ejiofor, Ms. Nyong'o, Ms. Paulson and others, and yes, even Mr. Fassbender. I am not a film critic nor a movie hobbyist, although I try to stay current, but what I am is a human being trying to understand the various problems and issues within our country. This movie is a potent reminder of why we are where we are as a society today. How man can be so unflinchingly cruel to his fellow man, especially if he looks, speaks or behaves differently, I will never understand.
